Liverpool and The Beatles

We said goodbye to Lola and her humans, Caron and Roy, yesterday. Lola was a sweetheart and we really enjoyed our long walks along the Thames. We left Walton-on Thames and traveled to Liverpool.  It was cloudy, misty and much cooler.
Our hotel room in The Beech Mount Hotel, is a cozy little room with a very large walk-in closet and a very comfortable bed.  We both slept well last night.  After breakfast this morning, we walked down to Albert Dock to visit The Beatles Story.  We really enjoyed looking at all the beautiful architecture even though it was a little rainy and cool.  We also walked past where the Beatles recorded their first songs. Before the group became the Beatles, they were known as the Quarrymen.

Liverpool has a very vibrant shopping area, along with free entry to the museums.  We enjoyed walking through the a huge modern library next to the World Museum where we saw an excellent Egyptian exhibit.

Without a doubt, The Beatles Story was the most fun today. The exhibits and the narration was superb and I know I came away with a better understanding of the talent these musicians had and the dynamics that made them famous.

This is a reproduction of the stage in The Cavern where
The Beatles performed always to a packed house. The block pattern
in the design was the perfect place for all the performers
to write the name of the band, such as Eric Clapton,
and The Rolling Stones.

This is a reproduction of the bar where hot dogs and Coca Cola
was sold in The Cavern.

The Beatles bought their instruments at this music store.

The Star Club in Hamburg, Germany where The Beatles
played 10 hours a day for 3 months.

We rode the hop on/hop off bus around Liverpool where we saw The Cavern where The Beatles performed early in their career.  We also found out that Liverpool has an area known as China Town. I'm not sure what I expected Liverpool to be, but I have had a great time.

Tomorrow we travel to Scotland for our next pet/housesit with Maisie, Geordie, Fergus, Jinty, Robbie, and Charlie.
